well... how do I make those other letters then?

first, find the button with ¨ somewhere on it. push that button and right after that, you type an A or an O (: then you will have an Ö or an Ä :D

Hold down the function key, then you can press alt and the numbers on the keys that are in the shape of a normal number pad. Just don't let go of the function key.

Well, assuming it's like my laptop... Find the keys that double as the number pad (mine have the numbers in blue above the normal white lettering). Then press and hold the function key. Just don't let go of it and do the alt+number thing like it was a normal keyboard.
