Des' Martial Arts Corner Empty Des' Martial Arts Corner

    Post by Destinykil

Well Des did want to continue to daily blog idea but with lack of internet the past few days and lack of things to talk about, I decided to sway this way.

What I aim to do with this is offer the advice and knowledge i've collected from studying and training in Martial Arts. From those who may doubt my knowledge or skills, feel free to enjoy your own opinion.

I have trained in many Martial Arts and studied even more. So when it comes to questions, forms, katas, and much more I can offer my insight and possibly help some of you onto the path of discipline and Martial Arts.

So without further or do, let the questions roll. Ask whatever you want that pertains to Martial Arts and the likes of it. I take all questions and will answer insightfully and calmly.

For those who wish to start a debate with my answers I welcome it.

Now then, who would like to ask the first question?

    I would.

Des, it seems like every time you start something you never continue it. Like...really. Can we be sure that you will follow through this time??

Well everytime I have an idea it comes together well for the few first days until I look back at it and get bored however, MArtial Arts is what I live and breathe, so i'm pretty confident i'll be able to keep this going. It also depends on if people ask questions. This whole blog relies on people seeking ADVICE

Advice for what, do you suppose?? What part of the martial arts do you feel your expertise is in?? The spiritual side?? Or perhaps the physical???

I'd like to say both. But it differs from art to art. For instance, I can offer basic and advanced insight for Muay Thai both spiritually and Physically. In aikido, I can offer more spiritual insight than physical since i've only studied it partially.

You ask a question about something you'd like to know and i'll answer. My answer can range anywhere from a sentence, to a paragraph to even a video demonstration of a technique.

Overall, my expertise is Muay Thai at the top spiritually and physically, Wing Chun second, and the list goes down from there. If you'd like, I can list all the MArtial Arts i've actually taken and trained in, and a list of everything i've studied.

I'm interested in asking about what you feel most strongly about.
I wouldn't ask a person in electrician training about planing wood for a house. ^^

What I feel most strongly about? In what context?

Which one do you think is best?
    Destinykil

Aha, Q jumps straight into a complex question. When it comes to that question everyone has their own opinion, what works for some doesn't for others. I think each art is made equal, it just depends on the skill level of the practitioner that decides how well it is utilized.

In my opinion though? I think Muay Thai is the best. Like most martial arts it has a form but the good thing is that you don't have to keep that form in order to be proficient at the art. It is a deadly art by itself and even has a predecessor called Muay Boran, so this art has evolved from a deadlier form. Yes sure people can argue, that certain techniques from other arts will take down an avid Thai fighter but it all depends on skill.

    Next question?

Are you sure it depends on skill?? Not something like circumstance??

I believe the outcome of a fight always depends on skill. You can pit an advanced Thai fighter up against 3 black belts, if he has studied their form and skills and knows he can beat them, its all about how he executes each move and the fluidity of it all. Circumstance usually plays little part in fights.

So, what happens when the one loses to the three??
    Destinykil

Post Thu Jan 13, 2011 12:39 am by Destinykil

When the one person losses to three it can mean many things. You must always take into consideration Variable Change, just because his skills are greater and he knows their flaws doesn't mean things always go as planned. Also, in my books and many other fighters, a fight is 1v1, not 1v3

Which is why I asked your opinion of circumstance.

Show us your best Muay Thai Power moves, I guess! In a video. Show Dek duking it out! But don't hurt anyone. Just saying.

Circumstance to me is about the setting and such. Fighting 3 guys in an alley could benefit you, while fighting in an open area with your back susceptible to attacks could hinder you.

and alright Q, not sure if itll be against my sparring partner or in a fight, or on the bags, but I will show you my moves in a video.

As is it to me. Circumstance do not always present you with a fair fight. I was asking your knowlede to provide me with the difference.

I'm terribly sorry, what difference? We've been on this subject for a few posts so I lost sight of your original intention.

I guess I was asking your favorite and why?? Then I asked whether you would keep to this column-like thingy.
    Destinykil

Post Thu Jan 13, 2011 1:38 am by Destinykil

My Favorite Martial Art is Muay Thai. Why? Because it has that edge that i'm known for. It is very deadly, very offense oriented and the history behind it coincides with me. It's called the "Science of Eight Limbs" being your hands, feet, knees, and elbows. I feel like when I combine those 8 limbs, I feel like a higher being. I took karate, the forms, kata's, and such just didn't sink it with me.

And I intend to stick with this column but it all depends on if people ask questions. If no one asks a question then there could be little to no activity here.

Personal Muay Thai Update: Des impressed his trainer beyond amazement. He told me to my face he didn't want to hold the pads to block my kicks anymore because they started to rattle his brain. I felt accomplished. He went on to say, anyone who takes one of my kicks to the head is done. Easy win.

Made me feel like my kicking power has transcended human boundaries.
