What was your very first anime?

The very first one that got you started into anime? And what is a streamline. I keep hearing of it but I don't know what it is.
Curse my lack of anime.

My first conscious anime was Sailor Moon. Love it, changed mah life. ^_^

Hehe me too. That(mainly) and Samurai Pizza Cats(Not sure if it counts), DBZ, the first Gundam and Voltron. Speed Racer too(even though I was into it by then when I saw it.)

Do you remember which Gundam it was? lol The first was ... Mobile Suit Gundam, which I believe aired in the late 70's early 80's. My first Gundam series was Gundam Wing. Loved that one!
DBZ was an early one I saw as well.

Fighting Foodons, Monster Rancher, Tenchi Muyo, Outlaw Star, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, Reboot, and a few others that popped up into Toonami would be the ones I have memories of earliest, anyway.

Yeah Mobile Suit Gundam along with Sailor Moon and DBZ (which were all on Toonami if I'm right) and Samurai Pizza Cats were among the first anime that I watched. I loved Tenchi Muyo, but never finished the series( in fact I can't remember an anime series that I finished through). Everything was pulled off the air when it was getting to the last season. It's not fair. *weeps*

I would of also looked on Sci Fi when it was showing animes in the morning(?), but I don't have the slight clue on that either. I was very young then so my mind is not very clear. I think I watched Akira before or something there. I never really watched it fully though

Actually, I've heard that die-hard Gundam fans shun actulaly shun fans of Gundam Wing (as it's not based on the storyline), and G-Gundam (for it's racist nature), and a few others as well. O-o

I thought you meant that there was a movie based upon G-Gundam/Gundam Wing, I never heard of. :o I seen both G Gundam and Gundam Wing(though I really liked G Gundum, because it is cool to me. But I really didn't like Gundum Wing because it was pretty boring. How could they say that G Gundam was racist? Haven't they seen other animes that went on different nationalities? *coughcoughHeteliaCyborg009coughcough* Well...

The question is: didn't most anime were released in the early 90's? I know a few animes that came to the U.S in the 80's but...some anime movies were relased before the 90's?(confusing question isn't it? )

I can't remember, but a lot of people didn't like it... or on the opposite only watched it due to it's racism. The art of the characters, even to the extent of the gundams, but I havent' seen it in ages.

A lot, most maybe. A lot of anime are still being made, they just don't make it all around though. A lot of anime would be condemned to "too controversial" and not be distributed.

I think I remembered liking G Gundam, never really notice it was hated (well I can't really remember it, or maybe it was a different Gundam, because there was one in the series that I liked that represented Russia, and he was cool looking. :3)

People who take things that seriously need to chill out. However, I for one am rather fond of avoiding trouble, so tend to keep views on certain things away from certain people. Keeps the peace, and I enjoy peace. ^_^

Distributed due to controverial content was perpahs bad wording on my part. However, during the 90's, a fair share of anime were quite edited and censored (anime featuring LGBT culture, for example) out much material before airing it here. Sure, we didn't know it then, save for the most obsessed of fans who knew about it prior to being shipped, but meh.

If it's been edited from the original content or intent, I don't consider it "distributed".

I remember in Great Teacher Onizuka the Gundam fans in the class trip to that island. I wonder if Gundam fans are seen as these kinds of people.

I'm trying to remember that episode. It's been a while since I saw all of GTO.

I'm confused on what you're asking about Sailor Moon? Changes to that anime included changing some genders, and changing the relationships between people, including two characters whom were lovers, but were made into cousins for the American dub. Dunno if that was done in other translations though.

Great Teacher Onizuka is about Onizuka, an ex gang member who decides he wants to change his life around by being a teacher. However, due to his past, he's not quite the "average" teacher.

I don't like that they make changes in the dub, it makes no sense. Too much political correctness. :(

just like in gokusen's live action :P although their cast was good :P
